Bologna to Host First-Ever Italian Racket Sports Championship in November 2026

Bologna will transform into a major multi-sport hub this November as it hosts the inaugural Campionato Italiano degli Sport di Racchetta, bringing together seven distinct racket sports under one competitive roof. Running from November 26 to November 29, 2026, the new tournament coincides with the city’s hosting of the Davis Cup Finals, placing the Italian tennis and racket sports community squarely in the national spotlight.

Seven Disciplines Converge for a National Title

The multi-sport event marks the first time governing bodies for tennis and padel, badminton, squash, and table tennis have collaborated to stage a unified championship. Competitors will face a unique, cross-disciplinary format designed to test athletic versatility rather than single-sport specialization. Participating pairs must register in one of the seven official disciplines—badminton, beach tennis, padel, pickleball, squash, tennis, or table tennis—and then compete across all other six categories.

According to tournament announcements, athletes accumulate points based on their matches in every discipline outside of their primary sport. The final national championship title is awarded to the pair that accumulates the highest combined point total across the entire slate of events. The project aims to highlight the shared identity and rapid growth uniting modern racket sports.

Sign up Online Before November 15, 2026

Registration for the tournament remains open online through a dedicated registration form until November 15, 2026. The competition is restricted to athletes over the age of 16 who hold a valid 2026 competitive federal license in at least one of the participating racket sports, alongside an active ranking in their chosen discipline. National federations have also been allotted wild card entries; for the Italian Squash Federation (FIGS), 10 registered pairs plus two wild cards are provided, with its participants competing across all disciplines except squash.

Three Venues Across Bologna

Organizers have distributed events across three distinct sporting facilities in the Bologna area to handle the diverse schedule. The Fiera di Bologna hosts competitions for badminton, pickleball, and table tennis. Beach tennis, padel, and tennis are assigned to the Country Club Villanova Castenaso. Meanwhile, squash matches take place at the Squash Center Bologna on Via Amendola, the first active facility of its kind in Italy, which this year reaches the milestone of 50 years of activity (1976–2026).

The official program opens on Thursday, November 26, 2026, with a dedicated day of clinics covering all seven disciplines. Competitive matches run across Friday, November 27, and Saturday, November 28. The event concludes on Sunday, November 29, 2026, with the award ceremony scheduled for 10:00 a.m. local time at the Fiera di Bologna, where the first multi-sport racket champions will be crowned.
