Rome hosts 2022 FISDIR Archery Championship with 25 archers

The Italian capital serves as the center of the sport this weekend as the 2022 FISDIR Archery Championship returns to Rome. Athletes with intellectual and relational disabilities will gather at the Flaminio Real venue on Viale di Tor di Quinto 57/B for the two-day competition held on September 17 and 18.

Increased Participation in Second Official Championship

Organizers report growth for the event compared to the 2021 edition. The tournament has expanded by three clubs and nine athletes, bringing the total participation to seven clubs and 25 archers. This rise in numbers marks a positive trend for the discipline, which only gained official status within the Italian Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual and Relational Disabilities (FISDIR) last year.

The event is held in partnership with the Italian Archery Federation (FITARCO) and hosted by the ASD Compagnia Arcieri Tor di Quinto – Stadion. The competing organizations include ASD Fiamma Mico Riposto, ASD Arcieri Bosco delle Querce, Pol. Baupark ASD, AS Speedy Sport, ASD Antares Sporting Club, and La Lepre e la Tartaruga ASD APS.

Archers Compete Across Three Experience Levels Using Various Bows

Archers will compete across three distinct experience levels: beginners, who account for 19 entries, base-level competitors with four entries, and two advanced athletes. The competition will utilize 80-centimeter targets set at distances of 10, 15, and 20 meters. Participants are permitted to use both barebow and Olympic recurve bows during the matches.

Governing Body Provides Championship Circular and Official Results

The governing body has provided a full circular for the 2022 Championship, which includes the event’s preliminary schedule and specific technical regulations. Official results and ongoing updates regarding the national discipline are available through the FISDIR official portal.
