Kamimura reflects on nursing studies and career aspirations

The project, organized by Kamimura and fellow manager Momoka Horiguchi, invites members of the baseball program to write entries to commemorate their birthdays.

In her contribution, Kamimura noted that while she frequently writes as a team spokesperson for the official baseball department blog—a process that involves multiple editorial checks—she chose to approach this birthday entry with a more personal, unscripted tone. Her reflection explored her academic path in nursing and her evolving career aspirations.

Choosing Rigorous Nursing Studies over Humanities

Kamimura is currently enrolled in a nursing program and is undergoing clinical training at a hospital. She described her academic journey as a conscious choice to pursue a challenging path. Despite identifying as a student with stronger aptitudes for humanities—specifically noting high scores in modern Japanese literature and history during her entrance examinations—she opted for a science-based curriculum.

She explained that she perceived transitioning from a science-based academic track to a humanities-based career as more feasible than the reverse. By choosing the more demanding science track early on, she sought to build a foundation for her future professional goals.

Professional Aspirations in Healthcare and Education

During her entry, Kamimura reflected on two distinct career interests: becoming a public health nurse and a teacher. She noted that her initial interest in nursing, specifically the role of a public health nurse, was driven by a desire to work with a diverse range of people, from infants to the elderly. She felt this path would allow her to contribute to the well-being of others in a meaningful way.

Her interest in education stems from personal experiences, including the satisfaction she felt when helping friends understand school subjects. She also cited a message from a former junior high school teacher that has remained with her for over five years. The teacher’s advice emphasized that while certain aspects of life and relationships inevitably change, individuals should maintain their core values and integrity.

Kamimura concluded her entry by stating her intention to use her skills to support others, rather than causing harm. She expressed a desire to continue growing as an individual, aiming to balance flexibility and change with the steadfast commitment to her personal principles.
