The municipal paravoley team of San Vicente achieved a milestone in regional adaptive sports, securing the runner-up position in the Gold Cup of the National Paravoley League. The tournament’s final phase took place at the Polideportivo Padre Mugica in Alejandro Korn, where the local squad concluded a competitive run that solidified their standing on the national stage.
Titanes de Chaco finished the tournament in first place, while the San Vicente municipal team claimed the silver medal, and José C. Paz took the third-place position. The final match between the San Vicente squad and the Chaco delegation was characterized by a high level of play, with the local team maintaining parity with their experienced opponents throughout the contest.
From Workshop Project to National Podium
The team’s performance in 2026 marks the culmination of a development process that began as a municipal workshop project in 2024. After initial friendly matches, the team moved into formal competition in 2025. The rapid progression from those early stages to a national podium finish represents the fruit of a constant growth process and collective work.
The roster, led by head coach Diego Ruiz, included athletes Nelson Novara, Ezequiel Irustia, Alexis Almoa, Alessandro Gallo, Constanza Korch, Osvaldo Hidalgo, Facundo Fernández, Ian González, Braian Guerrero, and Fiama García. The final event was attended by Fabián Leguizamón, president of Paravoley Argentina, and Laura Cometto, a member of the national organization’s staff, who observed the competition.
Honoring a Legacy in Alejandro Korn
During the final day of competition, the team held a tribute to Diego Villalba, a player who had been a key contributor to the squad before his recent death. To honor his influence on the team’s development, his teammates and the coaching staff kept his name on the official roster during the final day as a symbolic gesture of his role as a guiding figure for the group.
Subsecretariat Backs Team’s League Participation
The team’s participation in the National League is supported by the San Vicente Subsecretariat of Sports, directed by Cristian Gómez. The municipal office coordinates the logistical requirements for the team, including transportation for competitions and the provision of the microestadium at the Polideportivo Padre Mugica for weekly training sessions.
Following the conclusion of the Gold Cup, municipal authorities, including directors Osvaldo Rodríguez, Oscar Boccalandro, Fernando Mihovich, and Emilce Dávalos, confirmed that the district intends to continue its investment in adaptive sports. The focus remains on expanding inclusion and supporting the growth of the program.
