The World Hockey Championship has started in the Czech Republic. Before the opening match with Finland, there was a show hosted by Libor Bouček in the O2 arena and the singer Lenny performed. Then Alois Hadamczik and Luc Tardif were given the floor. But the President of the Czech Hockey Association was greeted by the whistle of the sold-out O2 arena. At the top it was impossible to understand what he was saying because the microphones did not work.
The World Hockey Championship returned to the Czech Republic after nine years on Friday. The opening matches in Prague and Ostrava already took place at 16:20, but that was only an appetizer. The main course was served in the O2 arena at 8 p.m., when a spectacular show began in the hall, during which all participating teams were introduced and the singer Lenny performed the song Hello, which is very popular not only here but also abroad.
The toast of the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavl, was then played on the large screen. Alois Hadamczik, the tallest man in Czech hockey, was also given his space, but he is not very popular among the fans. This was fully demonstrated during his speech, when a deafening whistle flowed through the hall. In addition, the former national team coach could not be understood for most of the speech, as the microphones did not work as they were supposed to. After Hadamczick, the president of the International Ice Hockey Federation, Luc Tardif, spoke, who did not receive such a radical reaction.
After the speeches, the match between the Czech Republic and Finland could start. Dominik Kubalík, whose daughter Mia was born on Friday afternoon, was part of the lineup. In goal, Lukáš Dostál got the upper hand over Petr Mrázek.
