Daribo: "The Coutrs is the best team in France"

The Telecable Gijón faces this weekend next Saturday the second game, first at home, of the new format of the European Cup of clubs in which the rival will be the French set of Couhind. The competition varies in format and instead of being by direct elimination as until now, this season is disputed by the double game league system. The teams registered were only eight, less than usual since the new system is more expensive, and they have been divided into two groups of four. The rivals of the Telecable Gijón are the Palau i Plegamans and the French of Coutras and Merignac. In the other group are the Voltregá, current continental champion; Manlleu; the French Noisy Le Grand and the Portuguese of Benfica. On the first day the gijonesas fell clearly on the Palau track, 5-1.

In the ranks of the Telecable Gijón is the French international Vanessa Daribo who, although he has been playing the Spanish league for several years, knows Saturday's rival well. "For six years I have not played against the Couhind, but it is a team that is always in the top positions in the French league, is the current champion and this season has won four consecutive games. He has international players and I think he is the best team French right now, "says Daribo.

For the player, the level of the French team is good so "we can't relax, but we face all the concentrated games and trying to make our game, we really want to play this game." Vanessa sees his team well and considers that they arrive "at a good time, last Saturday's game has gone very well because we scored many goals, I think we are in good shape".

The Frenchwoman sees pros and cons in the new system: "I like it because I am playing in Spain but for teams from other countries such as Germany, Switzerland, France or Portugal it is not as good as it involves a lot of expenses." And he gives as an example that other clubs do not like the system remembering that "this season few teams from outside Spain have registered precisely for that reason. There are three trips that many clubs cannot take on." The positive part is that "the system allows you to rectify if you have a bad result. This year we were lucky with the draw because the other group seems more complicated with two Spanish teams and one Portuguese that is quite strong. However, you have to play the matches".

Daribo's words confirm that contrary to what happened so far in this first edition with the new format there are no German or Swiss clubs registered, usual in previous editions.

Remember that the first two classified of each group are classified for the final four. On this day, the Palau i Plegamans and the Merignac are also measured within the Telecable group. The final four has dates, April 4 and 5, 2020, although it does not host as it will depend on the teams that qualify for it, which will be known at the end of February when the last date of the league is indicated.

Fernando Sierra has his staff ready for this meeting in which a large attendance of fans is expected. Not surprisingly, the team from Gijón has one of their favorite competitions in the European Cup and in which more titles, five has achieved. In addition, he wants to erase the bad taste of the last edition in which he was eliminated and could not enter the final four that ended up taking the Voltregá somewhat surprisingly.

Turkey and France, to the European Championship

Turkey drew 0-0 against Iceland and got his ranking for the 2020 Euro Cup and, bouncing, that of France, that without playing his game against Moldova He also mathematically achieved his ticket for the tournament that will be played this summer in several countries of the continent.

The team led by Erik Hamrén I had a lot to lose at the stadium Ali Sami Yen from Istanbul. Still alive after his two losses in the last three games, he had to win in Turkey to keep up with options on the last day, in which he will face Moldova.

Separated by four points of the Ottoman combined and of France before the start of the day, Iceland I could not fail. He was facing what could be his final bullet and wasted it. Turkey raised a serious game, very controlling, and gave almost no chance to its rival.

The men of Senol Günes they managed to neutralize any attempt to Iceland for taking control of the encounter. The data, after 90 minutes, spoke for themselves: Iceland, he only had a clear chance of danger, in the minute 83 with a spectacular header from Hordur Magnusson that saved on the goal line Burak Yilmaz.

That was the only moment in which Iceland He came to dream of the feat. The rest of the duel was at the expense of his rival, who with very little, took a point with which he qualified for the Eurocup.

Turks controlled

In the first part, Turkey, wrapped in his control football, he barely had a chance thanks to a header from Yilmaz that went over the crossbar.

In the second, he pressed a little more, but not with much success. Again Yilmaz, with a poisoned center that hit the crossbar of the goal of Iceland, Your fan with a shot without much danger, and again Yilmaz, with a shy shot that the goalkeeper stopped Halldórsson, starred in the Turkish opportunities.

After, Iceland, in full agony, he threw himself into despair for victory. He had his moment with the header of Magnusson, but Yilmaz decided that it was not the time to Iceland. He did not score, but avoided a goal with which Turkey would not have qualified for the Eurocup. And, by the way, France, bouncing, before his match, he also got his ticket.

Former cycling champion Raymond Poulidor died at the age of 83.

In 2014, at age 78, he "competed" for his 52nd Tour de France as ambassador for a bank in the colors of a jersey he never wore: yellow. Although he never won the event – he finished three times second and fifth three times – "Poupou" remained a symbol of the Tour and, as every morning at the starting village, the fans crowded around him for a souvenir photo, an autograph and a few words. Release had met him.

Lampard denies feeling pressure to pick Batshuayi and Giroud at Chelsea | Football

Frank Lampard has warned Michy Batshuayi and Olivier Giroud that he will not prioritise their international careers over Chelsea’s needs.

Tammy Abraham’s goalscoring exploits have left both strikers in the shade this season, hurting their chances of representing their countries at Euro 2020. Roberto Martínez said during the last international break that Batshuayi needed to play more for Chelsea and the Belgium manager’s France counterpart, Didier Deschamps, has complained about Giroud’s lack of games.

However, Lampard dismissed suggestions that he is under pressure from Martínez and Deschamps, even though Giroud has hinted he could push for a transfer in January to cement his place in the France squad.

“Not at all,” Chelsea’s manager said. “It is difficult for me and it is difficult for them. We both have our jobs, so it doesn’t feature in my thinking. I have to care for all the players. I have to pick the squad as I see it for the best of Chelsea, as they do for their countries.”

Giroud has not started a league game since August and was an unused substitute when Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Manchester United on Wednesday. Lampard is happy to talk to the 33-year-old about his future in January but wants the former Arsenal forward to stay.

Batshuayi has done well recently, coming off the bench to grab Chelsea’s winner against Ajax in the Champions League last month and scoring a fine goal when he started against United. However the 26-year-old is likely to be replaced by Abraham when Chelsea visit Watford on Saturday evening.

N’Golo Kanté, who has a 50-50 chance of being involved when Lampard’s side host Ajax on Tuesday, has not recovered from a groin injury for the trip to Vicarage Road. If Kanté is fit, Lampard will not ask Deschamps not to pick the midfielder for France’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Albania and Moldova this month.

“I love players playing for their countries,” Lampard said. “It means they are playing well for us. If he is fit and playing for us, then I will happily wave him away and hope he comes back in good health.”

Antonio Rüdiger will not return against Watford. The German defender trained this week but will see a specialist on Monday to discuss a problem in his pelvic area.

Crunch, rugby podcast from L & # 39; Team: Wales-France: undeserved but logical … – Rugby – Podcast

A few minutes and a point, the French team's adventure at the World Cup in the quarter-finals against the Welsh (19-20) stops. Delivering one of his best matches in many months, embellished with a grain of madness on a grid play schedule and a demonstration of incredible offensive potential (unlike Wales). But why not try drops? The French team may have the talent to do complicated things, it lacks work to do simple things with talent. Trust and closeness were Welsh.

Besides, we talk about coolness … Is it compassion or anger that comes when we think back to Sébastien Vahaamahina's incomprehensible push? (This show was recorded before the announcement of his international retirement).

And what now? Is there more hope at the end of this World Cup than four years ago? French young people have talent, but how can they prepare these young people for the international level properly?

PSG news: How Neymar’s injury nightmare has unfolded since joining club

Injuries are part and parcel of the game but for Brazil star Neymar they seem to be becoming more and more common.

The Brazil star hobbled off early on during Brazil’s 1-1 friendly draw with Nigeria last weekend and now faces four weeks on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring strain.

The 27-year-old’s career has been hindered by injuries and following his world-record £198million move to Paris Saint-Germain he has been out of action for more than 300 days.

Here, Sportsmail looks at how the Brazil star’s injury nightmare has unfolded since he made the switch from Spain to France in the summer of 2017.

Just over a month into his PSG career, the forward sustained a minor foot injury after initially hitting the ground running for his new side.

Neymar bagged four goals and four assists in his opening five Ligue 1 matches and he was not risked for PSG’s clash against Montpellier, which ended in a goalless draw.

It was nothing major but it was the start of a series of fitness problems for the former Barcelona man.

The Brazilian found himself missing another game just two months later due to a minor muscle issue.

PSG boss at the time Unai Emery told reporters: ‘Neymar had a small blow to his muscle and didn’t feel well this morning. I spoke with the doctors and with him and we decided it’s best if he stays in Paris.’

It was claimed that Neymar was lacking in motivation to play to the point that he sat out the club’s 5-0 win over Angers in order to keep himself fresh for Brazil.

Neymar had already scored seven and created a further six goals in eight league matches as PSG led the way in Ligue 1 by four points.

Neymar and PSG suffered a major blow as the forward sustained a broken metatarsal in his right foot against Marseille.

The injury came at a crucial point of the 2017-18 campaign and from a personal point of view put Neymar’s World Cup in doubt.

He had to undergo an operation, was on crutches and had to wear a protective boot as he missed 16 games for his club. During his long spell on the sidelines, PSG crashed out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage but they were crowned Ligue 1 champions and lifted the French Cup.

Neymar faced a race against time to be available to feature for Brazil at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

He was passed fit for the showpiece event last year and scored on his first start following the injury in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Austria on June 10, 2018 ahead of the tournament.

Neymar notched two goals in Brazil’s run to the World Cup quarter-finals but he also made headlines for his theatrics off the ball.

Following the summer break the 27-year-old started the 2018-19 season well with a goal return of 10 from 13 league matches.

However by November of that campaign he was back in the medical room, this time with a groin injury.

The Brazilian had to be substituted after picking up the knock just eight minutes into Brazil’s match against Cameroon.

Neymar returned to club duty but in the first game back he was forced off with a recurrence of the same muscle problem.

‘I didn’t see Ney, but it’s more or less the same thing he had with his national team a couple of weeks ago,’ manager Thomas Tuchel said.

‘We spoke with Ney, all the physios, and they all told me, “No, no, there’s nothing serious”, but unfortunately he is still in pain now.

‘What I think is that he got out at the right time, he didn’t push it too hard.’

Eleven months on from an almost World Cup-ending injury Neymar damaged the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during PSG’s French Cup tie against Strasbourg.

‘Neymar is worried, because it’s the same foot, the right foot, in the same area,’ Tuchel said.

The Brazil forward looked to be in tears as he left the field at the Parc des Princes.

Neymar received treatment in Paris, Barcelona and Brazil during a lengthy spell on the sidelines and he admitted to crying for two days after re-breaking the bone.

He missed PSG’s Champions League last-16 clash against Manchester United, which the Ligue 1 side lost over two legs. The Brazilian eventually returned to the fold in April, just in time for PSG to seal the Ligue 1 crown.

During a warm-up clash for the Copa America, Neymar’s hopes of starring in the competition were shattered as he sustained an ankle ligament injury.

The forward suffered the setback in the 20th minute of the Selecao’s 2-0 friendly victory over Qatar and had to be assisted off the pitch by medical staff. He could be seen crying and holding his face on the bench, as a huge padding of ice was used to treat the injury.

Neymar had to spectate as his team-mates won the Copa America on home soil last summer.

While the forward was on the sidelines he was heavily linked to a move away from the Parc des Princes.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona were interested in him but they expressed concerns over Neymar’s persistent foot injuries, according to reports in Spain.

October 2019 – set to be out for 28 days

After agitating for a departure Neymar remained in France following the summer transfer window.

While still nursing his ankle injury in August, PSG fans demanded he left the club as ultras held up an x-rated banner during their first league game of the season.

Ahead of his return to the team the club’s ultras also warned Neymar that he would not be welcomed back to the team after pushing for an exit.

Neymar made his comeback on September 14 in the Ligue 1 clash against Strasbourg and it was the perfect return as he scored a last-minute winner.

He notched four goals in five games before another international break saw him suffer another injury. The forward sustained a hamstring injury in the first half of Brazil’s friendly against Nigeria.

Neymar, who is now set to be out for four weeks, has become accustomed to the treatment table and has certainly had more than his fair share of injuries.
