Manchester City edges closer to Premier League title with win over Crystal Palace

The fight for the Premier League title between Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City continues. All with latent possibilities, go into action on date 32, facing their respective games; the first to do so, the light blues, who were measured as a visit to the Crystal Palace by the Colombians Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma.

At the beginning of the game it was thought that the locals would be a somewhat more difficult rival for Pep Guardiola’s team to beat, but the superiority of the current champions’ roster was noticeable, to the point that they ended up winning comfortably by a 2-4 landslide and, temporarily, they became co-leaders of the English championship.

In the absence of Arsenal coming into action, which will also do so this Saturday, but a few hours later (11:00 am) against Brighton, and Liverpool, which will have the great challenge of beating Manchester United at Old Trafford during the next Sunday, with 70 points, but one goal less, ‘Citizen’ and ‘Reds’ were at the top.

With such a tight fight, each point can be decisive and City had a complicated outing this Saturday to Selhurst Park, on the outskirts of London.

Given the numerous losses suffered by the current European and Premier champions and in anticipation of the duel against Real Madrid, Guardiola lined up a mix of starters and substitutes… which did not give him a bad result, despite starting off losing when the Three minutes in, Frenchman Jean-Philippe Mateta put the hosts ahead with a cross shot in a play that was born with an error in John Stones’ pass.

After conceding the goal, City reacted and turned the score around with goals from Belgian Kevin de Bruyne (13 and 70), Rico Lewis (47) and Norwegian Erling Haaland (66), who thus achieved his 100th goal with the ‘skyblue’ t-shirt.

The ‘Eagles’ made up the score with a goal in the final stretch by Frenchman Odsonne Edouard (86), although in different phases of the match they managed to create danger in front of the rival goal, demonstrating that City’s defense is not invulnerable, something that the team English will have to improve if they want to add titles in this final stretch of the season.
