Michaela Polleres had to admit defeat in the round of 16 at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi and therefore did not qualify for the placement battles.
After two Grand Slam victories en suite, Michaela Polleres (JC Wimpassing) went into the World Championships in Abu Dhabi as one of the top favorites. But the dream of precious metal ended prematurely for the number two seed. After a bye in the first round, Polleres won against the Dutch Hilde Jager.
In the round of 16, the 26-year-old fought against the Belgian Gabriella Willems. The duel went into extra time, where the world number 31 prevailed with Waza-Ari after 5:38 minutes. Polleres, currently fourth in the world rankings, missed out on her third World Cup medal. In 2021 and 2023 she won bronze in the weight class up to 70 kilograms.
