Ravensburg Leprechauns Make a Brilliant Start to the 2024 Baseball Season

On St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish national holiday, of all days, the highly motivated baseball players from TSB Ravensburg made their way to beautiful Gundelfingen on the Danube for the first test game of the 2024 baseball season. Since the baseball players have the Irish goblins “Leprechauns” as their team name and were founded in Ravensburg’s Irish Pub Slainte, the date of the game could only bring luck.

Brilliant start for the Ravensburgers

In dry weather and moderate temperatures, they received a friendly welcome and agreed on slightly adjusted rules to allow a lot of playing time, especially for new and young players, and thus also gave the new referees Thomas Freiss and Tobias Roth the chance to officiate their first game.

In the first “inning” of the game, the Ravensburgers were able to take a 4-2 lead thanks to, among other things, a long home run over the left fence of the field by Michael Waible.

The Leprechauns also dominated the second inning with five points scored. The resulting 9:2 lead was managed throughout the rest of the exciting game. Both teams found their rhythm and made various changes to create a good basis for the upcoming season.

All the experienced players were completely convincing, but the new players also showed their potential. Former youth player Luis Heßdörfer was able to throw in a first-team game for the first time as a pitcher and outfielder Mike Brigant was able to record three so-called walks in his second season as a Leprechaun, which you can do with a good eye and discipline earned first base.

Now it’s time to carry over the good impressions from the test game into the first competitive game in 2024. In the cup they will face the Tübingen Hawks from the second Bundesliga in front of their home crowd in April and are hoping for active support from the Ravensburg fans of US sports at TSB Ravensburg.
