Tatsu Saito (Kokushikan University), a member of the men’s 100kg+ Paris Olympic team who will be participating in the Judo Grand Slam (GS) Antalya Tournament (29th-31st, Turkey), responded to an online interview on the 22nd and said, “I am left with a feeling of anxiety.” It’s important that we don’t have any problems. We’ll gain momentum in this tournament. We want to get points.”He expressed his enthusiasm.

Saito injured his right thigh at the GS Tokyo tournament last December and withdrew from the third-place match. After that, he was aiming to participate in the GS Paris tournament in February of this year, but due to a delay in his recovery, he decided not to attend. This tournament is scheduled to be his last actual competition before the Olympics, and he said, “I want to show off what I’ve been doing in practice.”

He graduated from Kokushikan University on the 20th and has already moved out of the dormitory and started living alone, but his mother, Mieko, who lives in Osaka, has come to help him with his daily life, including meals. She expressed her gratitude once again, saying, “I’ve been coming here a lot lately. They cook me meals, so I’m grateful. I’m able to practice judo in a good environment.” Her mother will also be there to support her in Antalya, and she will achieve solid results and gain momentum heading into the Olympics.
