Internazionale recorded a resounding victory over Napoli (0-3) in Serie A on Sunday, but lost Dutch internationals Stefan de Vrij and Denzel Dumfries due to injuries. And FC Barcelona won 1-0 against Atlético Madrid in La Liga.

De Vrij and Dumfries started in the starting line-up, while Davy Klaassen remained on the bench. De Vrij’s contribution was short-lived, because he had to leave in the eighteenth minute with an apparent muscle injury. Dumfries was substituted in the 77th minute due to hamstring problems.

Inter took the lead just before half time thanks to a real cannonball from Hakan Çalhanoglu. The 29-year-old German-Turkish midfielder played devastatingly from a distance and hit the left corner.

In the sixtieth minute, Nicolò Barella made it 0-2. The Italian midfielder was the final stop of a beautiful attack and finished coolly on a pass from Lautaro Martínez. The final chord was for Marcus Thuram. A tight cross from Juan Cuadrado ended up at the feet of the Frenchman, who easily tapped in.

Thanks to the victory, leader Inter has two points more than number two Juventus (35 to 33), which won 1-2 against Monza on Friday. Reigning national champion Napoli remains in fifth place with 24 points.

Barça narrowly passes Atlético, Memphis hits the crossbar

After half an hour, João Félix scored the only goal of the match in the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. The Portuguese shot in deftly after being sent deep by Raphinha. Félix’s goal is somewhat spicy, as the attacker is rented by Barcelona from Atlético this season.

Atlético Madrid, which was too strong for Feyenoord in the Champions League on Tuesday with 1-3, came closest to a goal after the break through Memphis Depay. The Dutch international shot a free kick from about 25 meters against the crossbar in the eightieth minute. Both teams had chances in the final phase, but did not score again.

Frenkie de Jong was again in the starting line-up at Barcelona. He made his return last week against Rayo Vallecano (1-1) after two months of injuries and also played in the Champions League match against FC Porto (2-1 win). Memphis, who recently recovered from a months-long injury, entered the field in the 65th minute.

With the win, Barcelona reaches 34 points. Atlético has three points less, but has played one match less. Leaders Real Madrid and Girona each have 38 points.
