Argentinian Delegation Triumphs with Silver and Bronze Medals at Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games

The Argentine delegation added three silver medals this Monday on the third day of competition of the Santiago de Chile 2023 Parapan American Games, which will run until Sunday the 26th.

Two of those second places were in swimming, while the third corresponded to judo. Meanwhile, six bronze medals were also won.

Loberian Elián Araya obtained the silver medal in the 100 meters breaststroke SB14, with a time of 1m. 12s. 26/100. The winner and gold medal was the Brazilian Gabriel Bandeira, with 1m. 07s. 42/100 (new Parapan American record).

In addition, Lucas Leguiza from Chaco, only 15 years old, finished second in the final of the 100 meter butterfly S8 modality, with a record of 1m. 08s. 45/100. The representative of the Regatas Resistencia club escorted the Brazilian Gabriel Silva, with 1m. 05s. 93/100. In this same division, Facundo Signorini from Santa Fe finished fifth, with 1m. 17s. 43/100.

Meanwhile, in judo, Rosarina Nadia Boggiano reached the Parapanamerican runner-up, losing the final by ippon to Brazilian Brenda Souza, in the category up to 70 kilograms, with visual impairment (J1-J2).

In table tennis, there were also bronze medals achieved in mixed doubles by Coty Garrone-Elías Romero (XD4-7) and by Darío Neira-Giselle Muñoz (XD14-17). The third podium came from the female pairing composed of Nayla Kuell-Coty Garrone (WD5-10).

And there was a fourth bronze medal achieved by Fernando Eberhardt-José Bustamante, who reacted and beat the Cubans Yunier Fernández-Osvaldo Nodarse, 3-2.

Meanwhile, in shooting, María Laura Rodríguez Belvedere from Córdoba achieved third place and qualification for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, in the mixed 10m prone air rifle modality. (SH2).

There was also a bronze medal in judo, by Cristian Alderete from Matanzas, who beat the Chilean Ricardo Parra by ippon, in the division up to 90 kilos (J1-J2)

The Buenos Aires athlete, father of five children and who plays the trombone in the National Symphony for the Blind, climbed to the third step of the podium. The gold medal in the category went to the Cuban Yordani Fernández, who beat the Brazilian Willians Silva in the definition.

Meanwhile, the 7-a-side Soccer Team with consequences from cerebral palsy beat its counterpart from Venezuela 4-0. The goals were the work of Matías Bassi, Carlos Carrizo, Hernando Romussi and Matías Fernández. The next rival will be Canada this Thursday.

In adapted tennis, meanwhile, Gustavo Fernández from Cordoba defeated Chilean Brian Tapia in the first round, 6-1 and 6-2.
