A few hours before the closing ceremony of the Santiago Santiago 2023 Parapan American Games, the Peruvian delegation has 25 medals (3 gold, 8 silver and 14 bronze), a figure that will increase today in the final tests in the contest being held in the Chilean capital.

The other bronze discs were for Kelly Ari, in women’s individual SU5 and Jairo Aranguri, in men’s individual SU5; Diana Rojas Golac won silver, in the SU5 women’s individual; while the duo formed by Fernando Vilcachagua and Roberth Fajardo won the bronze medal in the WH1-WH2 men’s doubles category.

The boccia got the silver disc thanks to Dean Acosta and Niurka Callupe in the BC3 couples modality.

Lastly, the national para-athlete, Rosbil Guillén, He took the silver medal in the 1,500 meter T11 test, with a time of 4m 15s 41c. ‘Guillén also achieved the silver record last Tuesday, in the 5,000 meters T11.

“Thankful to God for this medal. With Dean we have worked hard for this medal. It is hard not to have won the gold, but there are still many chances of obtaining a place in Paris 2024. It was an impressive tournament, we have improved game by game, We had mistakes and luck, and Argentina was very strong, they have been in Boccia for years and they deserve this victory,” said Niurka Callupe.

While Dean Acosta pointed out: “We dedicate this medal to all those who support us, to my family, the coaches, the IPD and the Paralympic Association.”
