Spanish Senior Badminton Championship to Celebrate 30th Anniversary in A Estrada

The City Council of A Estrada is preparing to host a special event. Badminton from Estrada is celebrating its birthday and it is not just any number or just any club. It is 30 years since the launch of a project that has gained deep roots in the municipality and has awarded hundreds of Galician and national medals. For this reason, the A Estrada Badminton Club has decided to organize a special event that has exceeded all expectations. 329 players from 97 clubs from all over Spain will meet at the Coto Ferrreiro pavilion from Friday to Sunday to participate in the Spanish Senior Championship. This is a historic participation for a club that remains determined to continue making history.

The presentation of this championship took place yesterday at the town hall, with the mayor of A Estrada, Gonzalo Louzao; the person in charge of the Sports service in Pontevedra, Daniel Benavides; the president of the Galician Badminton Federation, Rodrigo Sanjurjo; and the president and coach of Badminton A Estrada, Jesús Pereiro. In his speech, Louzao highlighted that this tournament will allow the use of the Coto Ferreiro and Multiusos facilities, with nine playing courts set up for the occasion. He also pointed out that tournaments like this reinforce the image of A Estrada as the capital of Galician sports and help put the municipality on the national map.

Sanjurjo for his part He recalled the achievements achieved by the club in all these years, with more than 100 national medals, and a work that justifies the high participation that this national championship has registered.. Pereiro highlighted the great economic return of this tournament, which he estimated at around 90,000 euros, and encouraged all Estradenses to attend a tournament with more than 400 scheduled matches. Raquel Miguens, in search of a new medal

Among the more than 300 participants who will meet in this championship will be two players from the A Estrada Badminton Club. These are Alejandro Penas and Raquel Miguens, a woman who in this National will try to add a new medal to her long and brilliant resume in Galician and national badminton. Within the events organized for the 30th birthday of the foundation of the entity, Badminton Estrada thought of extending an invitation to King Felipe VI and his family to attend the Spanish Senior Championship as guests. As expected, the invitation was rejected “for agenda reasons” but instead they received a letter with greetings and congratulations from the king on his birthday. “It was something that made us very excited.
