The fans of Anderlecht are not very happy with it, but European games will be played in the Lotto Park next season. Union will again play its European competition(s).

Last season in the Europa League, Union played all its home matches of the 1/8th finals (against Union Berlin) and quarterfinals (against Leverkusen) at Anderlecht. Both clubs had reached an agreement on this in the aftermath of Felice Mazzu’s turbulent transition to Purple & White. Union then paid between 125,000 and 150,000 euros in rent per match to its Brussels fellow townsman.

So for this season, the clubs went round the table again and an agreement has already been reached for the play-off round of the Europa League – that is the last preliminary round, on August 24 and 31. Negotiations are still underway for the group stage, in the Europa League or the Conference League.

For those who would have forgotten: Anderlecht itself has to do without European football for a season.
