Segovian Archers Shine at Castilla y León Open Air Championship

The Segovian clubs were present with a large participation. A total of 8 archers and archers from various categories, from cadets to veterans, traveled to Valladolid to measure themselves against the best archers from the entire autonomous community, obtaining remarkable results that allowed them to return to Segovia laden with medals.

During the morning of Saturday, July 1, in the Olympic recurve bow division, the archer Nerea Sanz Sobrados from the Arcochinillo club managed to proclaim herself champion of Castilla y León, female cadet category. For his part, goalkeeper Javier Gonzalez Antequera from the Arqueros de Gaia club, also in Olympic recurve, managed to reach the male cadet runner-up. In the afternoon, the competition for the traditional bow, longbow and barebow divisions was held, where the goalkeeper from the Arqueros de Gaia club, Francisco Lobete, managed to proclaim himself champion of the Longbow division in the veteran category and runner-up in the senior category.

On the day of Sunday, July 2, the competition was held for the archers of the recurve and compound bow divisions in all categories. The Segovian archers would finish off an excellent competition thanks to the archers of the Arcochinillo club, Sandra Bastián Serrano who achieved the runner-up in the women’s recurve modality and David Bastián de Blas who achieved a bronze in veteran compound bow.

Also noteworthy was the performance of the goalkeepers from the Arqueros de Gaia club, Celia Alonso and Miguel Ángel Valentín, who achieved fourth and sixth place in their respective divisions.

Finally, the day also served to award the medals of the Precision League Championship for minors and cadets, where goalkeeper Javier Gonzalez Antequera won gold in the cadet category.

The Castilla y León Open Air Championship is a test that is held annually at the facilities of the Archery Federation in Valladolid. In this year’s edition, it has brought together more than 130 participants from 22 different clubs, in all categories and divisions recognized by the Royal Spanish Archery Federation in its precision modality.
