Victor Wembanyama he confirmed a few hours ago – during an interview for “L’Equipe” – that he won’t participate in the World Cup with the colors of France.
Recently drafted with the first overall call, the new center of the San Antonio Spurs will not take part in the expedition of the French national team on the occasion of the world championships which will be held from 25 August to 10 September in the Philippines.
Victor himself called his decision “difficult” but “irrevocable”.
That would be unrealistic in terms of growth and not even smart in terms of my health. I hope people will understand, it’s frustrating for me too. The national team is very important to me. I want to win as many titles as possible with them, but I think it’s a necessary sacrifice

The goal of The animal is to prepare in the best possible way for his first season in the NBA, probably also taking part in the Summer League which will begin on July 7 in Las Vegas.
He will most likely receive several criticisms because of his decision, but his body needs time to get used to the rhythms and physicality of the NBA, his choice is more mature than it seems.
Risking his physical integrity before setting foot on the NBA floor certainly wouldn’t be a forward-looking choice for a boy like him, who hasn’t hidden however that he wants to play and win with the transalpine national team in the future.
