Carlos Alcaraz keeps sitting in front of the screen and studying the great Roger Federer.
How does the Swiss maestro manage to hover so elegantly over the lawn? Where does the ball hit and how does it behave tactically?
The 20-year-old world number one, who grew up on the red ashes, looks at every detail.
World rankings: Zverev again German number one – Alcaraz conquers the top

“I want to look up to the best and most agile lawn players,” said Alcaraz in the days of Queens, which he used to make a statement about the start of Wimbledon (July 3): The Spaniard is on the green after his first title Tennis terrain to be expected.
“I’m approaching Wimbledon with a lot of confidence,” he said, grinning, holding his first grass trophy.
Alcaraz is gaining self-confidence – but with caution
The video study, in which Alcaraz analyzes not only the Wimbledon record champion but also sequences from the two-time tournament winner Andy Murray, is paying off more and more.
With the good feeling of being number one in the world, Alcaraz is fine-tuning for the highlight of the year. But without being presumptuous.
The final victory over the Australian Alex de Minaur (6: 4, 6: 4) does not change Djokovic’s clear favorite position, who can catch up with Federer with his eighth triumph – and who is unique in his game.

Alcaraz knows about his “weapons”
Djokovic slides like on clay courts, Alcaraz explained, that’s not possible for him. Therefore he refrains from pictures of the Serbian Grand Slam record champion, who won the last four editions of Wimbledon. So far, no real opponent has emerged that could really pose a threat to him this year.
Djokovic’s last Wimbledon final opponents Matteo Berrettini and Nick Kyrgios are not in top form after injuries, the Russian Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev are not lawn experts. Alcaraz believes that it is at least a little way on the way there.
When asked about his own hopes for Wimbledon, Alcaraz replied mischievously: “I have no expectations. You know, if I don’t have any, I’ll win it,” said the exceptional player.
“But I come to Wimbledon with a lot of confidence. I ended the week on a high level,” he continued. “So right now I feel like one of the favourites. I think I’m a good player on grass with all the weapons I have.”
Djokovic remains the main favourite
Nevertheless, Alcaraz knows about the clear distribution of roles on Church Road.
“I saw a statistic that said Novak won more matches at Wimbledon than the other top 20 players. What can I say about that?” He was impressed.
“I’ve also seen that Djokovic hasn’t lost a match on Center Court since 2013, when he lost to Andy (Murray) – so not on Wimbledon’s Center Court for 10 years,” the Spaniard continued to rummage about statistics box. “But I hope to have the crowd behind me to have a chance to change that statistic.”
“Novak is the main favorite to win Wimbledon,” said Alcaraz, knowing that the 36-year-old is once again looking at the calendar slam. At least he wants to challenge Djokovic. For this, Alcaraz has to become even more of a new Federer.
