The Favre hammer!
Many of the 1800 members had even hoped that Lucien Favre (64) would be presented at the annual general meeting as the successor to Adi Hütter (52). It turned out very differently – sports director Roland Virkus (55) announced the Favre cancellation instead!
Virkus: “Of course we looked at Lucien Favre. Believe me that we have done everything for it. Lucien said he still has Gladbach in his heart – but he doesn’t want to work in Germany anymore.”
Favre (who trained Borussia from 2011 to 2015) cancels Gladbach. What’s next?
Virkus: “We are now in various talks to finally find the right coach. We haven’t made good coaching decisions in recent years. This time we want to do better.”
Possible candidates that Gladbach already had on the list alongside Favre are Daniel Farke (45, most recently Kranodar, before that Norwich) and Vincent Kompany (36, terminated his contract in Anderlecht last week).
