Antonio Conte can’t find the solution at Tottenham: ‘I’m too honest to close my eyes and continue to receive my salary’

On Wednesday evening, three late Premier League games were played out as the Champions League Round of 16 caught all eyes. While Liverpool beat Leeds (6-0) and Crystal Palace won at Watford (1-4), Tottenham suffered another setback on Burnley’s lawn: 1-0. Sinking into the soft underbelly of the classification.

Something to upset Antonio Conte: “Four defeats in five matches, it’s the first time in my career that I’ve experienced this. It’s unacceptable. I came to Tottenham to take a step with the club but I’m not not be as good as people think.”

The ex-Inter manager’s self-criticism continues: “I am doing everything I can to reverse the trend but the situation remains unchanged. The club must make an assessment, also on me. I am too honest to close eyes and continue to receive my salary. I cannot accept this situation which is not good for anyone.”

Between the lines, we understand that Antonio Conte, who says he is “very sorry for the supporters”, is considering the possibility of leaving the club. However, Spurs are only seven points from qualifying for the Champions League, with two games in hand.
