“Our goal is to get to any place where there is a pool of water”

In his opinion, the sport of rowing in the region is in a good moment, but what is necessary is to push forward. “We had a slump, but we recovered. The goal is to boost participation and the number of activities. We want to promote canoeing and reach all parts of Asturias, anywhere where there is a pool of water ”. Morís reveals one of his projects. “We work with the Dragon Boat, which is a modality that encourages teamwork, and we want more women to participate”

Currently, in Asturias there are 1,200 federated canoeists. “We want to exceed 2,000. We have a quota that we have managed to maintain in the midst of the pandemic, but we are going to increase. 1,200 is a good number, but perhaps a little scarce due to the history of this sport in Asturias, especially at the base, ”explains Morís.

Regarding the relationship of the Federation with the Principality, Morís explains that it is “fluid”. “There are protests because in Asturias the sport has been relegated, but we hope to improve over the years,” supports Morís, who does not elaborate on his relationship with Miguel Gallo, the other candidate for the presidency. “We know each other and have a normal relationship. Everyone is in their place ”.
