Sir Alex Ferguson was one of the first to congratulate longtime rival Sir Kenny Dalglish after Liverpool broke his Premier League drought this week.
The Reds hadn’t won England’s top trophy since Dalglish won the title in 1989-90, when Ferguson was a manager at Manchester United in his early days.
The Scots forged a strong rivalry, while Ferguson once said pushing Liverpool out of his place was his greatest performance at United.

When Chelsea ended Manchester City’s mathematical chances of winning the Premier League on Friday morning, Liverpool’s archenemy Ferguson quickly reached Dalglish.
“He contacted us to say congratulations on the modern medium!” Dalglish said.
“You’re going through the older generation, Fergie at Man United, Brian Kidd, Mike Summerbee, all the old enemies who played football at the same time, and you sent a congratulatory letter at the end of the year.
“It continues. It’s a big compliment. You are in competition and you are rivals, but to be intelligent, you are generous enough to send a letter of congratulations.
“Nowadays, it has become more technical that you receive your texts or emails from the people you have competed with all your life. They wish they had won it, but they are proud to pay homage to other people. “
