Deportivo Pereira defeated América de Cali 1-0 as a visitor, due to the commitment that was postponed from date 2 of the BetPlay Dimayor II-2022 League, at the Pascual Guerrero stadium. In a duel that had a greater possession of the Scarlets, but the Matecañas from their defensive order, were the ones who took the three points, climbing some positions in the table.
The local was the one that had the initiative in the first moments, trying to find the spaces on the sides, but the visit was well positioned in the background. Before 10 minutes, the Americans had to make the first change, due to an injury to Marlon Torres in one of his arms, in a ball dispute with Brayan León, in his replacement Kevin Andrade entered.
Later the Scarlets were losing possession and the Risaraldenses took the opportunity to advance lines, generating the first clear arrivals on the wings. At minute 23, the Reds responded by way of the still ball with a cross from the side by Nicolas Giraldo, Gianfranco Peña headed and passed close to the goal defended by Harlen Castillo.
Nine minutes later, the matecañas came out with speed with León, advanced several meters, entered the area, John García knocked him down and the central judge David Espinosa, decreed collection from the penalty spot. Carlos Ramírez stood in front of the ball, finished off with power to the center and scored the partial 0-1.
In the final moments of the initial stage, América recovered the ball a little, but without much depth, having the highlight in the aerial game. In which Peña had another header similar to the previous one, but with a little more power. For the second half, America made the second change. Daniel Hernández entered for Daniel Quiñones, leaving the creative in the midfield and delaying
Esneyder Mena to the side. The first approach was generated through the good touch of the ball; Hernández himself finished off and passed very close to Castillo’s goal.
The match then went into a fairly divided possession, with both clubs looking for the opposite goal. The Americans prevailing more the touch through the middle and the Pereiranos with direct and fast play when they recovered the ball.
At minute 65, the matecañas again had a relevant approach, but they lacked in the conclusion of the plays. Then, those led by Alexandre Guimaraes had an option with a cross shot from Juan David Pérez, but the goalkeeper sent it to the corner.
Later came more substitutions from the premises. Alejandro Quintana, Deiner Quiñones and Brayan Vera entered for Pérez, Peña and Giraldo. After the modifications, the premises grew in attack, but they continued with deficiency in the last meters of the field.
Due to the rival’s position, coach Alejandro Restrepo, who was expelled seconds later; he sent Jimer Fory, Yéiler Goez and Juan Pablo Zuluaga to the field for Dubán Palacio, Yílmar Velásquez and José Sinisterra. In the end the visit managed to maintain the result and took the three points from Pascual.
On the next round of the Colombian league, América de Cali will host Patriotas de Boyacá and Deportivo Pereira will be the home team against Águilas Doradas.
