Nazarene Pastors Gather at Asan Riverside Court for Annual Tennis Tournament and Fellowship

The Nazarene Pastors Tennis Tournament took place on October 15 at the Riverside Tennis Court in Asan, South Chungcheong Province. The event drew participants from the denomination who gathered to compete and foster fellowship under clear autumn skies.

Recognition for Tournament Contributors

Before the matches began, the organizers held a ceremony to honor individuals who have supported the development of the tennis ministry. Pastors Yoon Seung-won and Jeon Gwang-don received gifts in recognition of their early efforts to promote the sport and encourage physical fitness and community among fellow clergy. Tournament president Ahn Se-kwang, representing Pyeongtaek Church, was honored for regularly providing hearty meals for the members.

Park Eun-Tae and Kwak Il-Gui Win Group Matches

The competition was divided into two groups, A and B, allowing for matches tailored to the participants’ skill levels. Park Eun-tae emerged as the winner of the A group, while Kwak Il-gui secured the top spot in the B group.

Uhm Myeong-Seop Announces Promotion and Relegation System

Uhm Myeong-seop, the group’s secretary from Juan Church, announced that the tournament will implement a new promotion and relegation system going forward. Under this structure, the lowest-ranked player in the A group will move to the B group, and the winner of the B group will advance to the A group. This change is intended to encourage skill development among established players while providing a more accessible entry point for those new to the sport.

Future Tournament Schedule

The Nazarene Pastors Tennis Tournament is held regularly on the first or second Thursday of each month. The sessions are open to all clergy members regardless of previous tennis experience. Those interested in joining the monthly meetings or learning more about the program may contact the secretary, Pastor Uhm Myeong-seop, at 010-3434-9642.
