Felix Neureuther admits he is too afraid to invite Roger Federer to his podcast

Former ski racing star Felix Neureuther confessed that he and his co-host lack the courage to invite Roger Federer to their “Pizza & Pommes” podcast. Neureuther shared the admission with the Abendzeitung newspaper during the “Blauer Panther” television award ceremony in Munich, noting that despite hosting numerous sports celebrities since the show’s launch in 2023, Federer remains out of reach.

Podcast Success Surprises the Former Skier

Neureuther launched the podcast alongside moderator Philipp Nagel in 2023. The 42-year-old admitted he never anticipated the audio series would sustain its current popularity. “I didn’t think it would run for this long,” Neureuther told the Abendzeitung in Munich. “But it is really nice and brings a lot of pleasure. You have the time to experience exciting stories and learn many new things from great people and personalities.”

Missing the Nerve to Call Roger Federer

While the podcast microphone has recorded interviews with cycling legend Jan Ullrich, fitness influencer Sophia Thiel, and professional footballer Kevin Volland, Federer has never been asked. “We have never asked Roger Federer,” Neureuther stated. Federer earned approximately 130 million US dollars in prize money over his tennis career. Neureuther explained the hesitation plainly: “We haven’t even dared to ask him once. But that would certainly be nice.”

Shared Dedication to Youth Athletics and Education

A conversation between the two former elite athletes would find considerable common ground in their post-competition philanthropic work. Federer has four children and operates the Federer Foundation, which focuses on education of the young. Neureuther runs his own foundation emphasizing physical activity for young people. “Movement from an early age is essential,” Neureuther told the Abendzeitung. “Without movement, there is no healthy life.”
