Vinicius misses Valencia match due to four-match ban

Vinicius misses Mestalla trip due to four-match ban

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Junior will miss this Saturday’s La Liga fixture against Valencia at Mestalla, sidelined by a four-match suspension, MARCA reported.

The disciplinary sanction stems from his expulsion and subsequent protests during Real Madrid’s match against Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 10. Officials at Valdebebas, including the player himself, regarded the four-match ban as disproportionate.

Tense history and past incidents at Mestalla

Saturday’s fixture marks the final game that manager Jose Mourinho will be forced to play without his left winger. Vinicius shares a notably complicated relationship with Valencia and its supporters. The Brazilian international has previously accused sections of the Valencia fanbase of racism, a topic addressed in a documentary that drew sharp reactions from the club’s supporters.

Vinicius has received red cards in two of his last three appearances at Mestalla. Each of those fixtures featured heightened tension between the Real Madrid attacker and the home crowd.

Commercial commitments in Dubai during the suspension

While his teammates travel to Valencia, Vinicius is roughly 6,000 kilometers away in Dubai. The trip aligns with commercial obligations stemming from a partnership established between Real Madrid and Dubai in 2023.

Visit Dubai serves as the club’s official destination partner, supporting ventures such as the Real Madrid World theme park at Dubai Parks and Resorts. Dubai is the home base for airline Fly Emirates, Real Madrid's second-largest sponsor behind Adidas, with the brand on the shirt front since 2013 in an agreement worth approximately 100 million euros annually.

Direct transition to international duty with Brazil

While player promotional trips to the Gulf emirate are common, the timing of the suspension provided an immediate window for these commercial appearances. Rather than returning to the Spanish capital, Vinicius will travel directly from Dubai to join the Brazil national team.

The Brazil squad gathered ahead of an international break starting on the previous Monday, with fixtures scheduled in Japan on October 14 and Singapore on October 17. Both locations offer significantly shorter travel distances from Dubai than a return journey via Madrid.
