Maël Lamouret, Aurane Lapouge Set for Dakar Youth Olympics, FFTA Says

French Youth Archers Aurane Lapouge and Maël Lamouret Target Youth Olympic Success in Dakar

French archery prospects Aurane Lapouge and Maël Lamouret will participate in the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, the French archery federation reported. Both athletes enter the international showcase following strong performances during the European Youth Championships in Italy, where they captured the team gold medal.

Lamouret, representing the club in Compiègne, has since joined the national training center INSEP, where he trains with the France 2027 collective in preparation for the Los Angeles Olympic cycle. Lapouge trains out of Riom. In addition to their individual ambitions, the two archers will pair up for the mixed double event in Dakar.

The mixed double format differs from previous editions of the Youth Olympic Games. In past cycles, mixed teams paired athletes of different nationalities together, whereas the Dakar tournament pairs competitors from the same country.

Coaching Leadership and Historical Context for French Youth Archery

Jérôme Auraix, coach for the Bordeaux Pole and the French youth national team, will travel with Lapouge and Lamouret to guide them through the competition. France boasts a strong historical pedigree in youth Olympic archery, having secured two medals across the three previous stagings of the event.

In 2014, Mélanie Gaubil earned an individual silver medal in Nanjing. Four years later at the Buenos Aires Games, Kyla Touraine-Helias won gold in the mixed team event alongside Spanish archer Jose Solera.

Stade Abdoulaye Wade Hosts Youth Olympic Archery Events

Archery events in Dakar will unfold at the Stade Abdoulaye Wade, a modern 50,000-seat stadium complex that also hosted the opening ceremony of the Games.
