Wall Street Executives Project Multi-Trillion Dollar Artificial Intelligence Spending Wave

Global capital markets will maintain funding streams for artificial intelligence infrastructure as major financial institutions project cumulative worldwide outlays reaching as high as $15万亿美元 over the coming decade.

Speaking at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s international financial leaders investment summit on Tuesday, November 3, Morgan Stanley Chief Executive Officer Ted Pick stated that global hyperscale technology firms could deploy between $8000亿 and $1万亿美元 annually over the next 7 to 12 years to build out required AI infrastructure.

“If you analogize this to a nine-inning baseball game, we are somewhere in the second inning,” Pick said, adding that cumulative projections of $10万亿 to $15万亿美元 represent a reasonable estimate given the magnitude of physical and technological scaling required.

Banks Structure Debt and Equity for Tech Leaders

The rapid acceleration of data center construction and semiconductor procurement has driven a sharp rise in corporate finance mandates. Major investment banks are actively structuring debt, equity, and advisory transactions for industry leaders such as Meta Platforms and Anthropic.

Goldman Sachs Chief Executive Officer David Solomon noted that capital markets retain a strong appetite to finance the computing capacity demanded by enterprise clients. However, Solomon cautioned that long-term technology super-cycles rarely progress in a straight line, pointing to periodic volatility and market corrections as standard features of capital expenditure booms.

According to Solomon, the primary variable constraining transaction volume is not liquidity availability, but rather the underlying cost of capital. “The market will provide robust financing support to meet those needs,” Solomon said, indicating that lenders remain willing to back qualified operators despite changing macroeconomic conditions.

Artificial Intelligence Deployment Could Boost Gross Domestic Product Growth

Pick projected that productivity enhancements driven by artificial intelligence deployment could eventually increase the annual real growth rate of the United States Gross Domestic Product by 50 to 70 basis points—equal to an additional 0.5 to 0.7 percentage points per year.

Financial institutions anticipate that sustained capital returns will follow the initial infrastructure phase once software monetization scales globally.

Solomon Highlights Human Accountability in Automated Systems

Addressing regulatory oversight and technological governance at the Hong Kong summit, Solomon highlighted the necessity of human accountability in automated systems. Drawing on Goldman Sachs’ two-decade history of operating automated trading platforms, Solomon maintained that software sophistication does not diminish personal responsibility.

“The people who develop the technology must be accountable for what they do, and the people who deploy the technology must be accountable for how the technology is actually used,” Solomon said.

Solomon further observed that while the current cycle of technological adoption will face operational turbulence, the underlying resilience of the United States economy provides a stable foundation for ongoing capital deployment and risk management.
