The Milwaukee Brewers placed four representatives among the finalists for the major individual awards distributed by the Baseball Writers‘ Association of America. Pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, second baseman Brice Turang, manager Pat Murphy, and closer Trevor Megill earned spots on the ballot released on a Monday evening.
Four Brewers selected following World Series title
The nominations arrive as the organization caps a season that culminated in a World Series championship. Misiorowski, who is widely known by his nickname “The Miz,” emerged as a primary contender for the National League Cy Young Award. He finished the regular season among the top three vote-getters in preliminary league balloting, positioning him near the front of the starting pitcher field.
Three finalists earn spots on major league award ballots
Turang secured a spot among the finalists for the National League Most Valuable Player award after winning a Gold Glove at second base. He joins a crowded MVP field that features four-time award winner Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers and fellow Gold Glove recipient Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs. Murphy enters consideration for National League Manager of the Year with a chance to secure his third award as Manager of the Year. Philadelphia skipper Don Mattingly and Atlanta manager Walt Weiss round out the finalists in the National League dugout race.
Megill captured a nomination for the newly established National League Relief Pitcher of the Year award. Major League Baseball introduced the relief pitcher category across both leagues. Megill competes against fellow closers Jhoan Duran of Philadelphia and Mason Miller of San Diego for the bullpen distinction.
Finalists across both leagues
The BBWAA released final ballots across all major individual categories for both leagues, setting the stage for voting results to be revealed the following week.
