Sara Herrero Leads the Traditional Women’s Standings in Valladolid

The second leg of the unified autonomous indoor archery ranking—known locally as the RAUS—brought archers from across Castilla y León to Valladolid over the weekend. Organized by the Federación de Castilla y León de Tiro con Arco under the direction of regional president and national vice president José María Rioja, the tournament served as a key qualifier for upcoming national championships.

Representing the Club Deportivo Arqueros Benavente, Sara Herrero topped the traditional women’s podium with a score of 490 points. Her performance outpaced Irma Fidalgo of Club Aguilarco, who finished second with 409 points, and Ávila-based archer Gemma Sánchez, who took third with 362 points. With this victory, Herrero claims the top spot in the unofficial national ranking.

Club Deportivo Arqueros Benavente Competes for National Qualification

While Herrero had already secured the minimum qualifying score required for the Spanish Championship—scheduled to run from Feb. 7 to 11 in Valdepeñas, Ciudad Real—she continued to compete to strengthen her standing on the national leaderboard. Teammate Ángel Rodríguez made the trip to Valladolid alongside her, chasing the points needed to secure his own qualification berth in the men’s division.

Rodríguez opened the competition with a steady first series but saw his scores dip during the second half of the event. He ultimately finished ninth in his category with 337 points, falling just short of the qualification mark.

Francisco Pedro Herrero of Ávila dominated the men’s category, taking first place with a winning score of 509 points. The competition behind him also featured strong showings from other Ávila archers, with Saturnino González securing second place with 482 points and Juan José Vázquez rounding out the top performers with 457 points.

Archers now look toward the final stretch of the indoor season as they prepare for the national tournament in Valdepeñas early next month.
