Lai Chau Badminton Tournament Set for November 2026

The Lai Chau Provincial Badminton Tournament, competing for the Ba Sao Cup, is scheduled to run from November 7 to November 9, 2026, according to local reports. Organized by the Lai Chau Newspaper and Radio-Television in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the competition aims to celebrate key national and provincial holidays while promoting mass fitness initiatives across the region.

Registration Deadlines and Venue Details Set for November

Participating units must submit their official athlete registration lists to the Sports Training and Competition Center no later than November 5, 2026. On November 6, the organizing committee will review applications and hold technical meetings with team managers and coaches. The opening ceremony and subsequent matches will take place at the Provincial Workers’ Union Sports Arena, located in Group 09, Lo Van Hac Street, Tan Phong Ward.

Tournament Categories and Age Group Breakdown

The competition is divided into two primary divisions: the Leaders’ Tournament and the Amateur Tournament. The Leaders’ Tournament is restricted to qualifying leadership personnel competing in men’s and women’s doubles. Men’s doubles in this category is split into two age brackets—45 years and younger, and 46 years and older—while women’s doubles features a single age classification.

Meanwhile, the amateur bracket spans three distinct age tiers: Group I for ages 13 to 35, Group II for ages 36 to 45, and Group III for athletes 46 and older. Events within the amateur division encompass men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. In singles, there are no age groups, though each participating unit may register a maximum of four male and four female athletes for those disciplines, with individual competitors limited to a single age group and up to two total events.

Equipment, Sponsorship, and Prize Structure

Competitors will use Ba Sao shuttlecocks under current official badminton regulations, with the exact tournament format to be determined by the organizing committee based on final registration numbers. Ba Sao Co., Ltd. is sponsoring the championship trophy for the winning team alongside gold, silver, and bronze medals for top-performing athletes.

The organizing committee will distribute commemorative flags to all participating delegations. Cash prizes range from 200,000 to 400,000 VND for individual events, 400,000 to 800,000 VND for doubles, and 800,000 to 1,200,000 VND for team competitions.
