On 24 and 25 January 2026, DGI Huset in Aabybro forms the framework for this year’s municipal badminton championships. Here, more than 250 players from badminton clubs throughout Jammerbugt Municipality are expected, when both young people, seniors and exercisers take to the field.

The event is wide-ranging and offers ranks for youth players from U9 to U19 as well as seniors and exercisers. The municipal championships are organized by Fjerboldt Jammerbugt and are run entirely by volunteers who work purposefully to strengthen the unity and community among the municipality’s badminton players.

According to the organisers, Jammerbugt Municipality is, as far as known, the only municipality in the country where the municipal badminton championships are still held – a tradition that is therefore of great importance to both players and clubs.

Fairplay is an important focus area at the convention, and among other things, a special DX series has been created. Here, new players without tournament experience get the opportunity to participate in a safe environment, meet equal opponents and get help with the rules, so that they get a positive introduction to tournament life.

– Everyone is welcome to come and experience a wonderful and fun sports weekend, says Tina Dam, who is one of the leaders behind the municipal championships.
