Thirty archers gathered in Culiacán for the first of two scheduled training camps aimed at defining the selection sinaloense ahead of upcoming national competitions. The concentration brings together athletes across both disciplines for psychological work, practice of tiro and exercises of eliminatorias designed to pinpoint performance gaps before the formal qualification windows open.
Culiacán Training Camp Prepares Sinaloa Archers for National Bids
The state capital serves as the hub for this early-season development push. According to César Jacobo, president of the Asociación de Tiro con Arco, the gatherings are strategically scheduled to give athletes an early competitive edge. “Todo esto es para empezar a trabajar desde tiempo antes y que no nos ganen las etapas clasificatorias; encontrar nuestras debilidades y fortalezas y, en ambos casos, mejorarlas”, Jacobo stated.
Participants span multiple age divisions, ranging from infant categories up to seniors. By introducing elimination exercises alongside psychological work, coaching staff aim to evaluate performance before official national tournament calendars accelerate.
Complementing the athlete concentration, the Instituto Sinaloense de Cultura Física y el Deporte (ISDE) conducted a course for trainers two weeks prior to the camp. Jacobo noted that this update provides instructors with tools to strengthen the preparation of the athletes and attend to technical situations during competitions. Updating the trainers allows the cycle to start positively by resolving doubts and reinforcing knowledge applied in the work with the youth.

Evaluating Current Standing Against Past Nationals in Tlaxcala
Despite the early phase of the training cycle, association leaders expressed optimism regarding the baseline performance of the attending athletes. Organizers are using the previous national event held in Tlaxcala as a comparative benchmark to gauge current form.
“Pese a que estamos iniciando, tenemos casi el mismo nivel que tuvimos en Tlaxcala y con ello podemos tener una ventana enorme para trabajar y estar mucho mejor para los eventos venideros”, Jacobo said, highlighting the potential for steady progression over the coming months.
