In collaboration with student associations Linkee and studhelp, the Parc des Princes transformed into a hub of generosity.This initiative aims to provide essential support to students facing financial hardship, offering them access to food, hygiene products, and clothing from a charity thrift store.
The event saw a notable turnout from various club figures, including handball player Jannick Green and judokas Kelvin Ray and Dayyan Boulemtafes. However, it was the surprise appearance of 19-year-old Zaïre-Emery that truly energized the hundreds of students in attendance.
A Thousand Students Receive Vital Support
Zaïre-Emery,who has recently earned a call-up to the French national team for upcoming matches,proved to be younger than many of the students he was there to assist. Despite his youth and burgeoning career,he actively participated in the distribution efforts,embodying the spirit of community service.
On the eve of a crucial Ligue 1 match, the young midfielder didn’t just make a cameo appearance; he rolled up his sleeves. Eyewitnesses saw him at the food station, handing out pasta packets and engaging with attendees, happily posing for countless selfies that brought smiles to many faces.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi also made an appearance to oversee the operation, demonstrating the club’s unified commitment. He, too, was a popular figure, taking time to connect with students and volunteers amidst the bustling event.
This bi-annual event, initiated in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, leverages the club’s influence and facilities to combat student precarity. PSG highlighted that a staggering 34% of students regularly go without meals due to financial constraints.
The successful operation, powered by 250 dedicated volunteers, provided essential aid to nearly 1,000 students.Each recipient left with approximately 15 pounds of food and hygiene products, along with a school supply kit, offering much-needed relief and support.
