Atari and Pipeworks Studios Prepare Godzilla Remaster for PC and Switch 2

Kaiju Arena Brawler Returns

Giant monsters are returning to modern hardware as Atari and original developer Pipeworks Studios prepare Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered for a worldwide launch on November 3, 2026. The updated 2002 fighting game will land on PC and Nintendo Switch 2 on the exact date recognized globally as Godzilla Day. While digital versions are slated for release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Steam, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, physical editions are currently listed for PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.

Rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 for Modern Hardware

Rather than simply upscaling the original executable, Pipeworks Studios rebuilt the entire experience in Unreal Engine 5. The development team maintained approximately 99 percent mechanical fidelity to the 2002 release while introducing an overhauled user interface, dynamic weather systems, larger arenas, and a currency-based unlock shop. Platform requirements for Steam users necessitate a Windows 10 64-bit operating system, an Intel Core i5-8400 or Ryzen 5 2600 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 6 GB or RX 580 8 GB graphics card running DirectX 12, alongside 6 GB of available storage space.

Twelve Playable Kaiju and Eight Destructible Arenas

The updated roster features 12 playable kaiju, matching the original Xbox-era count while implementing specific adjustments. Showa Mechagodzilla replaces Mechagodzilla 2, while Kiryu remains in the active lineup alongside a version of Godzilla from the 1990s labeled as Heisei Godzilla in current user interface builds. Players select from this roster to battle across eight distinct locations, which feature day and night variations covering real-world cities, Monster Island, and the alien Mothership. Each monster possesses a unique moveset combining melee strikes, ranged energy attacks, and special Rage Mode abilities.

Strategic Environment Interaction and New Multiplayer Modes

Arenas function as active combat tools rather than passive backdrops, allowing competitors to hurl skyscrapers and leverage landmarks against opponents. The remaster introduces online multiplayer functionality alongside traditional local cooperative play, supported by an overhauled progression system that lets players unlock monsters, stages, and gallery items in any preferred order. In addition to standard versus brawls, the title incorporates dedicated single-player campaigns for each available kaiju.

Upcoming Steam Demo Precedes November Launch

Ahead of the full release, players will have the opportunity to test the game through a scheduled Steam demo on October 15, 2026, arriving a little under three weeks before the official rollout. Developer documentation clarifies that original cheat codes from the 2002 console releases will not function within the Unreal Engine 5 framework, leaving those legacy numeric strings strictly as historical archive material as the launch window approaches.
