Malaysia’s top women’s doubles shuttlers, Pearly Tan and M.Thinaah made history once again after clinching the Arctic Open 2025 title in Vantaa, Finland, marking another major milestone for the pair and Malaysia badminton.

The world No.2 duo delivered an outstanding performance in the final, defeating Japan’s Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi, ranked world No.6, 21-7, 21-9 in just 31 minutes at the Energia Areena. Their straight-game victory not only secured them the championship but also cemented their place as the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to win the Arctic Open title.

This victory adds to their growing list of achievements, coming just two months after they made history by reaching the BWF World Championships final, where they became the first Malaysian women’s doubles pair to win a silver medal. The Arctic Open triumph marks their second title of 2025, following their Thailand Open victory in May.

Their chemistry and consistency have been key to their success this season, with the pair now having reached six finals this year. They also extended their strong head to head record against the Japanese duo, winning six of their eight encounters.

For their latest win, Pearly and Thinaah will take home US37,525 (RM 158,468) in prize money.
