The Countdown Begins: What to Expect from the Cleveland Browns’ 2024 NFL Schedule Release

The most NFL of days on the NFL calendar will be soon here. At some point, in the next two weeks, the league will announce the next big event that will draw thousands of eyes to televisions and other devices.

The release of the actual 2024 NFL schedule.

The Cleveland Browns have known 14 their opponents for this season for years thanks to the pre-set divisional rotations and no changes to the AFC North in two decades. They’ve even known the three teams who were based upon last year’s divisional finishes since January.

All that’s left is to find out the order. That, and what games may find their way into one of the ever-growing number of prime-time or marquee spots.

Here’s what you need to know, whenever the NFL does finally announce a release date, about the Browns’ 2024 schedule.

When will the Cleveland Browns’ 2024 schedule be released?

The NFL has yet to announce the specific date, but it did run teasers through the NFL draft broadcast that it was coming in May. Based upon the last few years, the typical release date is generally within the first two weeks of May.

Who do the Cleveland Browns play at home in 2024?

The Browns will play their usual three AFC North rivals, the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers. The divisional rotations have them playing against the AFC West and NFC East. Cleveland will get home games against the Kansas City Chiefs, fresh off back-to-back Super Bowl wins, and Los Angeles Chargers, fresh off hiring former University of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh, out of the AFC West. The NFC East teams coming to the lakefront will be the Dallas Cowboys, still arguably the league’s biggest draw, and the New York Giants. Outside of the AFC West and NFC East, they also landed a home game against last season’s second-place team in the AFC East, which would be the Miami Dolphins.

Who do the Cleveland Browns play on the road 2024?

The Browns, again, make their usual road trips to divisional rivals Baltimore, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh. The AFC West road opponents for them include a trip to Denver to face the Broncos and their first visit to Las Vegas to play the Raiders. The NFC East road trips awaiting them will take them to Philadelphia — not Sao Paolo, Brazil — to face the Eagles and to Washington — actually, it’s Landover, Maryland — to play the Commanders. As for the two games based on division finish, they’ll travel to New Orleans to face the NFC South’s runner-up, the Saints. They’re also scheduled to play the AFC South’s second-place team, the Jacksonville Jaguars, away from Cleveland. Which leads to the next question.

Where do the Cleveland Browns play the Jacksonville Jaguars?

That’s not been officially determined yet. Jacksonville plays one home game a year in London; this year, it’s at Wembley Stadium. Both the Beacon Journal and others have reported that the Browns are one of the two teams — the other being the New England Patriots — being considered as the Jaguars’ opponent in that game. That would likely come out a day or two before the actual schedule as a whole comes out.

What 2024 holidays or significant dates could the Cleveland Browns play games on?

The Browns aren’t going to be the Chiefs’ season-opening opponent that first Thursday night, and they got passed over for the Green Bay Packers to play the Eagles in Brazil. They’re obviously up for the only other international game for which they would qualify, the London game against Jacksonville.

They don’t play the Detroit Lions at all, and the Cowboys come to Cleveland, so those two Thanksgiving slots are out. However, there’s a prime-time game that night which does not have an anchor team which could be an option.

There’s the second annual Black Friday game, which would be on Nov. 29. A year ago, that Amazon Prime exclusive streaming game featured the Dolphins and the New York Jets.

Two other spots that weren’t previously expected opened up in the last month or so when the NFL announced not one, but two games that will be played on Christmas, despite it falling on a Wednesday. Those games will be played in the afternoon.
