During the final of the Under 18 championship between Ajax and AZ (0-2), the supporters of the Amsterdam team showed a bad side. They chanted ‘cancer AZ’, as can be heard on images circulating on social media.
The match was marked by disturbances on Saturday. The game had to be stopped once because fireworks ended up on the field. After AZ’s 0-2, Ajax defender Dies Janse ran towards the AZ players to push opponent Elijah Dijkstra, after Dijkstra allegedly provoked the Ajax crowd. Then ‘cancer AZ’ blared from the stands.

Thanks to the victory, AZ can once again participate in the Youth League, the tournament that AZ won in 2023. AZ became champions of the autumn competition and Ajax of the spring competition, and so both teams met in the final of the Under 18 championship.
