Revolutionizing Television Broadcasting: France Télévisions Introduces UHD Broadcast for Roland-Garros

France Télévisions recently unveiled its broadcast set-up for this year’s Roland-Garros tournament, promising a revolutionary television experience. The big news is the arrival of ultra high definition (UHD) broadcasting on the brand new version of France 2, called France 2 UHD.

This technological advancement will allow viewers to enjoy tennis matches with unparalleled visual quality, offering sharper details and more vibrant colors than ever before.

From May 26 to June 9, tennis fans will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of the action thanks to this 4K broadcast. The matches which will take place during the day on the famous Philippe Chatrier, Suzanne Lenglen, Simonne Mathieu and court 14 courts will all be broadcast in UHD.

But that’s not all: France Télévisions also promises immersive three-dimensional sound, made possible thanks to Dolby Atmos support, thus offering a complete and captivating audiovisual experience.

A new era for television broadcasting in France

However, to benefit from this innovation, you must be equipped with the latest technologies. Currently, only those who are covered by UHD DTT or who receive DTT by satellite via FRANSAT will be able to benefit from it. But the good news is that Orange has announced the upcoming arrival of France 2 UHD on its decoders from May.

This deployment by the operator suggests that other access providers will quickly follow, thus allowing a greater number of viewers to benefit from this immersive experience before the start of the tournament.

This is an important step in the evolution of television broadcasting in France, offering sports fans total immersion in one of the most iconic events on the sporting calendar. With the promise of unprecedented visual and sound quality, the UHD broadcast of Roland-Garros on France 2 UHD promises to redefine the way we watch and experience sport on television.
