Remembering Christian Durou: The Co-President and Former Player of CSB

the essential The co-president and former player of the CSB left us at the age of 71. His funeral took place on Wednesday in Barcelonne-du-Gers.

Champion of the Gers

A native of Barcelona where he spent his youth, he took up residence at Houga for professional reasons. But it was in Barcelona that he was first a player from 1983 to 2004 and was even Gers champion with the former, co-president of André Dehez (1989) then of Georges Marsan and Monique Dehez.

He chaired alone from 1991 to 1998. Since 2005, he formed a triumvirate with Dominique Mano and Olivier Labarbe.

At Avenir Aturin Rugby too, he played alongside his older brother Jean-Marc (died in 2018) and was the founding president of Courants d’Aire, the alumni association. He was a member of the club’s steering committee.

A whole character

Beyond his stern demeanor, his physical presence on the pitches, both rugby and basketball, was impressive. He will have marked the club with “his charisma, his work, his loyalty, his rants and his immense generosity”.

To his wife, his children and grandchildren as well as his large sporting family, the editorial staff of La Dépêche du Midi presents its sincere condolences.
