Liverpool miss out on success at Aston Villa

Jürgen Klopp missed a win in the English Premier League in his last away game as Liverpool FC manager. In a turbulent game, the third-place team only managed a 3-3 (2-1) draw at Aston Villa on Monday evening despite a 3-1 lead.

An own goal from Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez (2nd) and goals from Cody Gakpo (23rd) after minutes of checking by the video assistant and Jarell Quansah (48th) had apparently put the “Reds” comfortably in the lead.

Youri Tielemans (12th) scored the interim equalizer for the hosts, who are still hoping for Champions League qualification in fourth place. The supposed goal to make it 2-3 by Ollie Watkins (52nd) was disallowed due to an offside position. In the finish, substitute Jhon Duran (85th, 88th) scored twice and saved the Birmingham club a point.

Liverpool had already secured participation in the Champions League. In the last game of the season, the outgoing Klopp and the “Reds” will host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
