FC Barcelona wishes to extend its young defender Pau Cubarsi, revelation of the season in central hinge. Negotiations are advanced and an agreement appears imminent.
Cubarsi has shone this season in central defense, establishing himself as an indisputable starter alongside Araujo. Despite his status as a Juvenil A player, his performances attracted the interest of major European clubs. His current contract, signed last year until 2026 with a release clause of 15 million euros, is not enough for Barça who wish to secure their jewel for the years to come.
According to information fromAS, The Catalan club have reportedly offered Cubarsi a five-year contract starting when he comes of age in January 2025, with wages starting at 4 million euros next season and rising to 12 million euros in 2028-2029. The release clause will be set at a minimum of 500 million euros, gradually increasing until it reaches 1 billion euros. An agreement on the economic level seems to have been reached, all that remains is to finalize the duration of the contract according to Martinez Ferran of Mundo Deportivo.
