Joel Schwärzler made it to the quarter-finals at his home tournament in Mauthausen. The 18-year-old Austrian beat Martin Landaluce 6:4 and 6:2 in the round of 16. The number one in the junior world rankings now meets Dimitar Kuzmanov, who defeated Lukas Neumayer 2:6, 6:2 and 6:0.

With Gerald Melzer, another Austrian had reason to be happy on Thursday. The 33-year-old won against number two in the tournament, Román Andrés Burruchaga, 6:4 and 6:4 in the round of 16. Melzer will face Jozef Kovalik in the quarterfinals.

Filip Misolic had already reached the quarter-finals on Wednesday.
