In the past, he was sometimes unreasonably criticized, but lately he has mainly received praise. Roman Červenka undoubtedly belongs to the prominent figures of the independent Czech national team. This status was underlined by the creative playmaker on Saturday evening, when he crossed the mark of two hundred starts in the national team.

“This is something you never dreamed of. It’s nice, but it’s not something I’m dealing with right now. We have a goal. Maybe I’ll look at it from a distance. I already appreciate that I put on that jersey so many times,” said Červenka during the week.

David Výborný (219), Petr Čáslava (201)… And behind them a Slavist protege who made it from Eden to the NHL and elite European competitions. Or to the three medals from the World Cup (gold and two bronze), the Gagarin Cup, the extra league title and a host of individual awards.

That’s why he runs around the ice with the captain’s badge on his chest. Instead of a years-long career overseas, Červenka attended national team meetings and accepted invitations without hesitation. From his approach, you can sense the relationship he has with the national colors.

“It’s nice, but it’s not something I want to deal with right now.”

Even during this year’s championship, he will jump over second-placed Čáslav at 99.9%, and in the group stage he should play another five games. In addition, possibly quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. Are you counting on me? Next year, he can also get Excellent.

Either way, Červenka will experience an exceptional evening at the O2 Arena on Saturday. Will he also get a three-point triumph against Norway as an imaginary cherry on the cake?

“Enjoy the hockey WC with Tipsport! All you have to do is start, get 500 CZK for free and play contests for prizes worth 33 million!”
