Torrejoneros Shine at Madrid Kata Championship and Zonal Championship

Last Saturday, April 13, the Madrid Kata Championship was held in the town of Villaviciosa de Odón in which two Torrejoneros competitors from the Corredor del Henares Judo Club stood on the podium. Mariano Arroyo and Juan García Pozo won the silver medal and qualified for the Spanish Championship.

Torrejón de Ardoz, April 11, 2024. In addition, three other Torrejonera judokas stood on the podium in the Zonal Championship that took place on March 17 in Meco and managed to qualify for the Madrid Championship that took place on April 7 in Villaviciosa de Odón. Lucía Pizarro won the gold medal in the children’s category -57 kilos. For her part, Jimena Urbanos won silver in the -63 kilos cadet category; and finally, Nahai Pérez won the bronze medal in -57 kilos, also in the cadet category.

Finally, another Torrejonero, Óscar Domínguez Roncero, was chosen to referee the Junior European Cup that was held in Pozna (Poland).

“Congratulations on these new successes for the sport of Torrejón de Ardoz. It is always a source of pride for our city to have outstanding athletes in all sports such as, in this case, judo,” said the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
