Pancasari’s European Championship Run Ends in Quarterfinals Against Arin

The Frenchwoman was eliminated in the quarter-finals by the Turkish Neslihan Arin in two sets (21-15, 21-10).

All good things unfortunately come to an end. For her first participation in a European Championship, Rosy Oktavia Pancasari managed to enter the Top 8 by eliminating the number 2 seed in the competition, the Dane Mia Blichfeldt, in the round of 16 after a magnificent mano a mano of three sets (19-21, 21-15, 21-12). But in the quarters, the obstacle posed by the Turkish Neslihan Arin was insurmountable for the French player of Indonesian origin.

After a very balanced start to the match (13-13), Arin, seeded number 7, suddenly accelerated by inflicting a 6-0 on a stunned Pancasari (19-13). The first set gone (15-21), the Frenchwoman found herself in an almost usual situation for her in this Euro since she had won her two previous matches after being down one set to zero. But this scenario was not going to happen again this Friday. From 6-6, the Turk delivered the blow in the form of an 8-0 (6-14) which put an end to the suspense.

Nevertheless, at 29 years old, after several years disrupted by injuries, Rosy Oktavia Pancasari can rejoice in this nice course which will allow her to continue her rise in the world rankings, she who was 87th in the world before this European Championship.
