New Rimini Welcomes Venezuelan Baseball Stars: Paredes and Sosa Join the Team

Paredes, New Rimini, the Venezuelans Edward Paredes and Kevin Sosa arrive.

Paredes, a 25-year-old Venezuelan, is New Rimini’s starting pitcher for game 2 of the next Serie A baseball championship. Born in Maracay, 180 cm tall, Paredes is a right-handed pitcher who returned last season from his experience in Codogno, in Serie A. At the beginning of his career he played in the United States in the New York Yankees organization, from 2016 to 2021, with experience in the minors Florida Complex League, Gulf Coast League, Dominican Summer League. Last winter he played in Colombia.

“Last year I got to know the level of Italian baseball in the championship played in Codogno – his first words as a player for New Rimini – gaining good impressions. I fit in well with the team, where I noticed a very professional and family atmosphere. I am very motivated and eager to make an important contribution to achieving the goal of maintaining Serie A.”

Alongside Paredes, New Rimini has signed Kevin Sosa as a relief player, a Venezuelan born in 1995 who has been in Italy for about ten years, with his best seasons in Grosseto. Kevin has already been training for a few weeks and there is great trust from the technical staff around him too.

“Paredes is a solid pitcher – says Daniele Delbianco, pitching coach of New Rimini – very professional and scrupulous. He already has experience in Italy, he is young and has already integrated well into the group.

He has excellent quality pitches, the years spent in the United States in the Yankees organization are a good guarantee and I am convinced he has ample room for improvement.

Even Kevin Sosa, who has been with us for the longest time in preparation, is showing the qualities that everyone recognizes in him. In Bologna last weekend he showed ‘changes’ that were really complicated to read. We have to work a lot, but the foundations are there for the work to be profitable on the diamond.”

Tomorrow, after the first friendlies in Godo and Bologna, New Rimini faces Modena in their home stadium in via Monaco. Game 1 at 2.30pm and followed by, after a 30′ break, game 2.

It will be the last test before the start of the championship, away in Parma against Crocetta.
