Auxerre Inches Closer to Ligue 1 Promotion After Victory against Dunkirk

All that remains is to confirm. AJ Auxerre made a good part of the last little bit of the road that remains to be covered to rediscover the taste of Ligue 1 this Monday, by winning in Dunkirk after having been behind until the hour of game. After Gessime Yassine opened the score against the run of play (1-0, 20th), the Auxerres had a string of chances, without ever managing to materialize. But by pushing hard, Lassine Sinayoko ended up equalizing (1-1, 57th) before the steamroller of the AJA was definitively rewarded for its efforts, scoring twice again on a csc from Gaetan Courtet (1- 2, 62nd) then through Rayan Raveloson (1-3, 71st).

“We had a big match this evening, the response was resounding. We remained calm and lucid at half-time. I told them that this evening, I found them monstrous”, declared Christophe Pélissier in the conference of post-match press, smiles from ear to ear.

Thanks to this new victory, its 19th this season, AJA is closer than ever to the climb, since it will only need one success in its last three matches (Paris FC, Amiens, Concarneau) to that the latter be mathematically validated. But the Auxerres have above all taken a big step towards the Ligue 2 title thanks to their four points lead over Saint-Etienne (2nd, 63 pts) and Angers (3rd, 61 pts). The beautiful evening operation.
