Edwards breaks personal record in victory over Wizards

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Anthony Edwards scored a career-high 51 points and the Minnesota Timberwolves overcame an early 21-point deficit to dominate the second half and beat the Washington Wizards 130-121 on Tuesday. .

Edwards scored 30 points in the second half. Nickeil Alexander-Walker finished with 23 points and Rudy Gobert with 19 points and 16 rebounds for the Wolves, who have won four of five games and eight of 10.

Minnesota confirmed to stay with one of the first three places in the Western Conference. They will face Denver this Wednesday, in the fight for first place.

The Wolves and Nuggets entered the day tied atop the West with a one-game lead over Oklahoma City. The Thunder beat Sacramento.

Minnesota improved to 12-5 without star Karl-Anthony Towns. The team announced Tuesday that Towns was cleared to conduct contact, five-on-five workouts and could return as early as Friday.
