ATP Montecarlo, Bolelli and Vavassori tame the Argentinians Gonzalez and Molteni and fly to the quarter-finals

An hour of domination for Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. The blue couple is in the quarter-finals of Masters1000 of Monte Carlo, proving once again as one of the most consistent doubles of 2024. The Argentines Maximo Gonzalez and Andrés Molteni, number 8 in the seeding, fall under their blows with a clear result 6-1 6-3giving a new demonstration of strength in view of the next Olympics.

A first set without even a minimum of fight, with the Italian pair immediately taking advantage of the first opportunity at their disposal to extend the lead to 2-0. The Argentine duo would have two opportunities to return in the fourth game, but the two blues did well and from there they definitively took off, another two breaks and the set closed in twenty-five minutes.

In the second half Andrea and Simone know they can push even less, knowing they have a certain superiority in the exchange, and to simply wait for the moment of ‘tear’. Break point not exploited in the second game, but it doesn’t hurt as we make up for it two games later, taking the lead 4-1. Despite a few more problems with the service, the match ended in favor of the blue pair in just over an hour.

Ten points conceded in total by the Italian pair, four with the first serve (24/28), six with the second serve (8/14), saving the only two break points conceded in the first set. And now there are no bogeymen in the quarterfinals Bopanna/Ebden, but the couple made up of the Croatian Mate Pavic and the Salvadoran Marcelo Arevalo, two other experts in the category. However, there is the opportunity to get closer to first place in the Race to Turin, just over 1000 points away, and continue with the streak of excellent results.
